Broadcasting from the Heartland

People from all over the Chippewa Valley and beyond gathered for  Fun, ProFundity, and Fund-raising on Sat., Oct. 15, during Northern Spirit Radio's Broadcasting from the Heartland fundraising event. Dining on pizzas made by hand with locally-produced flour and accompanied with salads made from locally-grown vegetables, our guests enjoyed an entertaining evening with guest speakers, door prizes, and musical acts, ably emceed by  Scott Morfitt of BluGold Radio. Despite being forced to relocate at the last minute due to the original venue being destroyed by a literal bolt from the blue, the evening was a success.

The guest speakers were Mike McCabe of BlueJeanNation.com and Matthew Rothschild, former editor of The Progressive magazine. To hear their talks, and Peter Leidy's performance of Blue Jeans Nation, click here. Ken Lonnquist, Madison's Minstrel for the Environment, was unable to perform in person due to illness, but sent a video, as did Magic Mama (Oregon), Si Kahn (North Carolina), Anne Hills (Pennsylvania), Peter Alsop (California), Tom Rowley (Missouri), and Peter Leidy (Madison, Wisconsin). Eau Claire's Squirrel Talk, performing the music of tiny places, provided live music. To hear the musical performances from the event, click here. Below, are the videos from the event:
