Cash or Conscience: War Tax Resistance

Don't Pay for War

Second hour of a 2-part visit with war tax resistance (WTR) activists. Each of the 4 people has changed their life to conscientiously refuse to pay for bullets, guns, bombs, and war, and they've worked to call attention to the fact that about half of every income tax dollar goes to the military. Around April 15th American's dollars are conscripted through taxation, and these 4 guests have said 'no'. Last week we spoke with Lincoln Rice, coordinator for NWTRCC (National War Tax Resistance Coordinating Committee) and we began our interview with Don Timmerman;  many of Don's stories can be found in his book, Midwife of Grace. We'll continue with our visit with Don, followed by Cathy Deppe, currently active with the Merchants of Death War Crimes Tribunal, including organizing an action against General Atomics this past February. Our 4th and final guest is Chrissy Kirchhoefer, outreach consultant of NWTRCC, who calls attention to the War Industry Resisters Network. Lincoln, Don, and Chrissy have all been active with the Catholic Worker Movement.
