With in two years I was off all mediation and have not had an attack since. I love what Cornucopia is doing. I hope more people will join the food movement and back the family farmers. | Fantastic interview. VeryFantastic interview. Very comprehensive and engaging. I would love to hear John LaForge do a similar in depth interview about non-violent civil disobedience around nuke weapons - the history of the movement etc. Thanks... | Angela B. (not verified)
| Steve is a long time goodSteve is a long time good friend, fellow Quaker and ...... I could go on and on...but the point is, the interview was so wonderful for me to listen to. As long as I have known Steve, I still learned more and this, to me, seems to be the hallmark of a good interview. It is true that Lopez Island is a remarkable community and Steve is one of our treasures. Thank you Mark for sharing his good work, enlightening us to the struggle of the Balkans, and your continued work on Northern Spirit Radio. | Nancy Ewert (not verified) | ||
| I just returned from a walkI just returned from a walk with my yellow lab, Buddy. I had two other companions, too--Mark Helpsmeet and Steve Horn--and through the podcast of their hour-long conversation I felt I'd been to Bosnia and back. As usual, Mark had done his homework and asked thoughtful questions that elicited insights from Steve about peace-making through his art as a photographer. I've known Steve for nearly twenty years, worship with him in our Quaker meeting, and have read and re-read his book, Pictures Without Borders--Bosnia Revisited. In this interview, I learned even more about how Steve's work as a photographer grows from his connection to Spirit and deep commitment to peace. Thank you to both Mark and Steve for reminding me of the importance of personal connection and sharing stories and images to promote peace. | Iris Graville (not verified) | ||
Turning Toward the Morning - Gordon Bok's Song of the Soul |
what joy to hear Gordon Bokwhat joy to hear Gordon Bok sing Song of the Soul and Turning toward the Morning, or whatever it's called! I have always loved his voice. Thanks, dear one, for making this afternoon so rich. By the way, he talks about his travels with Valentine Doyle. I just saw her recently at Hartford Quarterly Meeting. I met her in my former life when I was on the trail of grant money. She manages some kind of family foundation. You should track her down and send her this link. Who knows, maybe she'd like to make a donation. | Judy Hyde (not verified)
| I really enjoyed listeningMark, I really enjoyed listening to the two of us. I wish that I had said something to the effect that after living this closely to Mother Earth, we would become less able to be so destructive of her. In the meantime, my correction was in the introduction where you say that I as well as the others signed up for 11 months...I signed up for 3 months from the beginning. You might want to make that clearer if possible. I am going to alert the Teaching Drum folk to the interview next. I think they will be rather pleased with it. Gratefully, Margaret | Margaret Moore (not verified) | ||
| Many interesting aspectsYeah, there are many aspects of the Teaching Drum Outdoor School which are very attractive to me. Especially the intimate community would be heavenly. There was one human need that you didn't talk about. It would have been interesting to hear what happened in such a close group containing married and unmarried people and a mixture of ages. Not sure I would want to camp out 24/7 all winter. | rich (not verified) | ||
