Even better method or treatment-- the Chicago March and the use of music in healing. Music soothes the savage breast--heart. But how can we reach the creeps that conceived and promoted these wars? How should we treat them? Forgiveness? Demand an apology? Ask them to bring back the dead and wounded and clean up the mess in the desert, recover all the mines and rounds ready to explode if some child walks on them. Find homes for the displaced? Send the bill for treatment to Washington? Are songs enough to record the history of the culture of violence and misplaced "patriotism." Thomas Chishol… (not verified)

We have just listened to Mark's interview with our dear friends Sandy and Rhea of Lopez Is Washington State. Our visit to Lopez Is in 2007 was very special and to see even then the marvelous work that they have been involved in was truely inspiring. Since then Makere has made several visits to Lopez and the surrounding areas. I have not been back there unfortunately but I certainly hope to this year for their wedding in Sept. Our lives have been enriched by their friendship and love. We rang Rhea today to let her know we had listened and to catch up on all the latest from the island. book cover for "Pictures without borders" Pictures Without Borders - Bosnia Revisited Steve is a long time goodSteve is a long time good friend, fellow Quaker and ...... I could go on and on...but the point is, the interview was so wonderful for me to listen to. As long as I have known Steve, I still learned more and this, to me, seems to be the hallmark of a good interview. It is true that Lopez Island is a remarkable community and Steve is one of our treasures. Thank you Mark for sharing his good work, enlightening us to the struggle of the Balkans, and your continued work on Northern Spirit Radio. Nancy Ewert (not verified)
book cover for "Pictures without borders" Pictures Without Borders - Bosnia Revisited I just returned from a walkI just returned from a walk with my yellow lab, Buddy. I had two other companions, too--Mark Helpsmeet and Steve Horn--and through the podcast of their hour-long conversation I felt I'd been to Bosnia and back. As usual, Mark had done his homework and asked thoughtful questions that elicited insights from Steve about peace-making through his art as a photographer. I've known Steve for nearly twenty years, worship with him in our Quaker meeting, and have read and re-read his book, Pictures Without Borders--Bosnia Revisited. In this interview, I learned even more about how Steve's work as a photographer grows from his connection to Spirit and deep commitment to peace. Thank you to both Mark and Steve for reminding me of the importance of personal connection and sharing stories and images to promote peace. Iris Graville (not verified)
